Exploring Internships Evening

Innovative thinking, intelligent business insight, day one impact

We are excited to welcome businesses, who could be keen on taking MBA interns over the Summer Term, to our 'Exploring Internships Evening' on Monday 2 March 2026 from 5-8pm.

Our Oxford MBAs bring deep, real-world experience in shaping strategy, improving operations, driving commercial growth, and using data to solve complex business problems. If you have a business challenge that would benefit from fresh strategic insight, hosting an intern is an excellent way to tap into this expertise.

On the night, we will be asking you to provide a '3-minute pitch' on your company to the students. This will provide a brief overview of the business, why our MBA students would be excited to be involved, and what talent you are looking for.

Following these pitches, there will be an opportunity for networking, which will allow students to get to know you and your businesses in more detail.

"At Curzon, we value the diverse and talented MBA cohort at Oxford Saïd. Even without prior consulting experience, we are confident that Oxford MBAs bring sharp intellect and fresh perspectives to our internship programme. Our experience with past Oxford MBA interns has only reinforced this belief."
Abhishek Roy, Curzon Consulting

On the day

Agenda

  • 5pm: Arrival
  • 5.30 - 6.30pm: Pitch session
  • 6.30 - 8pm: Networking

The pitches

Hosted in one of our lecture theatres, you will not need to provide any slides or collateral as we will provide a holding slide. This is your chance to tell your story, talk about your business, why your MBA internship is exciting, and what skills you are looking for from applicants.

We ask that each pitch is a maximum of three minutes.

Networking

At this part of the evening, you can mingle with students who are keen on hearing more about your business and discuss next steps.

Internship criteria

Oxford Saïd MBA students can choose to do a credited or a non-credited internship. As the name would suggest, students who opt for the 'for credit' option need to follow certain criteria to ensure they gain their credits.

Internships for Credit (IFC) must meet the following criteria:

  • Students must work on a full-time basis (min 30 hours per week).
  • Students must have regular interaction with senior and / or executive management
  • The work undertaken must be substantive – the internship should provide an opportunity for students to make an active contribution to company initiatives
  • It must be for an organisation where MBA learning can be applied objectively (the student is required to write a report following the internship demonstrating they have applied their MBA learning)
  • Ideally, the internship needs to start between 6-20 July 2026 and to end by w/c 7 September 2026
  • It must be for a minimum of six consecutive weeks*

* There is no final date by when an internship should end, but consideration must be given to the fact that students need to submit an assignment based on their Internship for Credit by the end of August 2026. If the internship lasts beyond this date, there should be an explicit recognition (either in the contract or the job description) that the work they do before then provides scope to produce an assignment in time for submission.

Internship timelines

As detailed in the above information, we work to certain deadlines and criteria that must be met. As this is the case, we have planned out a timeline for you:

  • By 25 February: Provide an internship job description to the Career Development Centre to post on their job platform
  • 2 March: Internship evening and intern applications open
  • 31 March: Applications close
  • 1 April - 1 May: Selection and interview processes
  • 15 May: Students know outcome of processes and have received their JD and signed contract
  • 6 July: Internship starts

You must have a clear job description, students can then apply through our job portal, which can be linked directly to your email or Applicant Tracking System (ATS). If the student wishes to use the internship for credit towards their MBA, they will need to check that the internship meets the published criteria and provide a signed contract and job description to the MBA Programme team by 12pm on 25 May 2026 at the latest.

You can advertise non-credited internships to our students and alumni throughout the year by posting on our student facing career portal, OSCAR or by speaking directly with us. If the student does not wish to use the internship for credit, the internship does not have to meet the published criteria.

Contact and FAQ

FAQs

How will I receive applications?

  • We will post your internship opportunity on OSCAR, our student facing portal which will allow students to apply to you directly, or we are able to collate CVs for you and send over on a closing date

How will the interview and selection processes work?

  • This will be down to you and your internal company processes, so it's up to you as to what format the interviews will take and who will conduct these

It would be great to hire an MBA intern, but I am not sure if I will have all my requirements aligned by the date in March, can I still take part?

  • Yes, we can accommodate some flex in this timeline. Speak with us so we can help

Can we hire students permanently following the internship?

  • Yes, many students who undertake internships are looking for permanent roles upon graduation. Please note: visa sponsorship may be required for some students following the internship

Do we have to pay the interns?

  • There is no requirement to pay the interns, but we would advise that you do to aid in attracting applications. Salaries for internships vary dramatically, from simply covering expenses, to paying a pro rata full time wage of circa £70,000. Speak with us for further guidance

We want to offer a 'for credit' internship, but we need this to start in May/June. Is this possible?

  • This could be possible as we have some flexibility around start dates. We would advise you speak with us to see if we can accommodate your requirements

We are thinking of an internship once the students finish for a longer period of time. Can this work?

  • Yes, we have many employers who offer 3 - 12 month internships post-MBA. Get in touch to discuss this with us

Do I have to sponsor the student's visa while on the internship?

  • If your internship is based in the UK and will be 'for credit' all of our MBAs will have a visa that covers them to work during this time. The majority of students who are with us on a visa will have permission to work until March 2027 - please note that work hours restrictions may be in place for non-credited internships during term time
